A Dream Became True

A DREAM OF 2-YOUNG DOCTORS
TURNED INTO 50-BED HOSPITAL

(2-Young Doctors met at a Coffee Shop by chance. Both belonged to different specialties.One offered his clinic run by him to the other. That was the starting point of a dream to build a multi specialty Hospital at Bangalore. Their struggle for funds and innumerable difficulties faced by them are all past episodes. To day Ananya Hospital stands majestically giving succor to thousands of Patients. )

It was 1978. Young Balaji was offered a MBBS seat at Hubli. He was reluctant. He
preferred Textiles- his father’s specialty. But his father’s idea was different. He told him that in his family’s tree there is no Doctor and insisted that he should join MBBS course.

That was the first Turning Point in his career.

He went on to complete his MD in Pathology. After a stint as a Lecturer in a Medical
College, he got opportunity to serve in a Hospital in Saudi Arabia.

This is the second Turning Point in his life.

After serving 4-years there he returned to India to serve as Associate Professor and Head of the Dept at Rajarajeswari Dental College Bangalore and Consultant to some Hospitals. On the other hand his friend and now the Managing Director Ananya Hospital- Mr.Rajasekar took his MBBS degree from Bangalore and DLO from Mysore (ENT). He worked 6-years in Kerala and later shifted to Bangalore to work as Consultant at CHIKITSHA – an ENT Clinic.

In 2001 – both Balaji and Rajasekar met. At that time Rajasekar was having a Clinic. He invited Balaji to join in his Clinic to man the Pathological Lab. This is the third Turning Point for both of them.


There are some other famous Consultants in the place where these people were having
Clinic. Soon they became well acquainted with each other. Balaji and Rajasekar not
satisfied with the present work started to think loud- to dream for a 50-Bed Hospital. But it will cost staggering 50-million rupees. How to raise such an amount and how much each individual have to invest? A million dollar question.
Slowly this idea got attraction among his other Doctor friends.

Dr Ravi Prakash is a Pediatrician and having lucrative Practice.

Dr.Chavan is a well-known Surgeon and having his own Clinic

Mr. Sharma-a friend – non-Doctor but is having popular High School and a well to do
man-got attracted to this idea.

Dr Deepak and Dr Mrs Deepak are well known Doctors in their respective field.

A meeting was held among these 5-friends and it was decided that they should join as
Partners and explore the possibility of starting the Hospital-
a fourth Turning Point

It was decided that each should invest around 12-lakhs and also to Approach State Bank of India for loan. The initial cost of the Project was Rs.30-million.
To arrange Rs.12-lakhs by each individual was an uphill task since all of them belong to middle-class family and were having commitment to their family. The Cause is a worthy one-that is the positive factor to raise the money. Soon Friends and Relatives came forward to help them.

After these people raised the required contribution, State Bank of India came forward and approved the loan.

Thus ANANYA HOSPITAL was born.

To day it is attracting many Patients from Bangalore and other places and they return back well cured and satisfied.
Charges are very moderate. Patients are very happy and comfortable with all the Doctors who pay personal care to them and very kind to them. One Patient was heard to say that he had a rebirth in this hospital after losing hope of survival.

During the course of running the Hospital, Doctors saw middle class Patients facing difficulties in paying the hospital fees. To-help such patients they started a Trust-, which will meet part of the cost of needy patients. The Trust is also running Old Age Home

Analysis:

Sometimes Dreams bring big fortune provided one is determined to work hard towards
achieving and making it a reality. In case of these young Doctors they had vision and a noble cause to serve needy Patients. Sincerity of Purpose and hard work behind them were their trump card to attract the attention of their Friends and Relatives.
The reward for their hard work, frustrated experiences, sleepless nights is the Ananya Hospital- a succour to innumerable Patients.

· Healthy relationship with Friends and Relatives.


Many of us dream many things but leave them at that place. If we work hard to realize even one we may inherit big fortune.
